1901 Census

Age one and living with father John Tom age 28 a carter/grocer, mother Jane (née Thraves) age 27, both born in Radcliffe on Trent, and Jane’s mother Martha Thraves, a widow age 50. They were living on Shelford Road, Radcliffe on Trent.

1911 Census

Age 11 and living with parents John and Jane. He is recorded as Leonard on the census. Jane’s mother is still living with them and they are now on Mount Pleasant, Radcliffe on Trent.

The 51st (Graduated) Battalion, The Sherwood Foresters, was formed in 1917 from the 15th Training Reserve Battalion. It moved to Doncaster in 1918 and then to Welbeck. Its members remained in the U.K.

George’s father John Tom Foulds died on 12th January 1949 at Saxondale Hospital. Probate was granted to George with effects of £3357.11.9d.
