ARTHUR EDWARD GETHING 1882–1958

Born April 26th 1882 in Newark

Died January 8th 1958 (Bingham registration)

 1891 Census

Age 8 and at school living with mother Matilda Gething, 49, who was born in Grantham, plus a servant Maria Bates 15 who came from Cropwell Butler. They lived on Bingham Road, Radcliffe on Trent. Note – there are several mistakes in the census entry. Arthur is described as Matilda’s nephew, born in London and Maria Banks is described as born in Cropwell.

1901 Census

Age 18, born in Newark, employed as a grocer’s assistant and living with Matilda Gething, 59, who is living on own means together with William 26 a nephew of Matilda and son of Williiam Burford Gething, Matilda’s brother; he is employed as a baker-confectioner and was born in London. They lived on Bingham Road, Radcliffe on Trent.

1911 Census

Age 28, born in Newark, employed as a grocer’s assistant and living with Matilda Gething 70, single in a 6 roomed house on Bingham Road, Radcliffe on Trent.

1914 Electoral Roll

Address given as Bingham Road, bedroom, first floor, furnished. Landlady was Mrs Gething.

Radcliffe on Trent cemetery- grave for Arthur E Gething born 26 April 1882, died 8th January 1958. Also in same grave Matilda Anne Gething mother of above died 19 April 1924 Age 83.
