Note: In the censuses below Arthur is recorded as the nephew of Matilda Gething. However, according to his baptism and the inscription on his gravestone Matilda was his mother.

1891 Census

Age eight, at school and living on Bingham Road, Radcliffe on Trent with Matilda Gething, forty-nine, single, born in Grantham, and a servant Maria Barks, fifteen, born in Cropwell Butler, Notts. Arthur is described as Matilda’s nephew, born in London.

1901 Census

Age eighteen, described as born in born in Newark, employed as a grocer’s assistant. He was living on Bingham Road, Radcliffe on Trent with Matilda Gething, fifty-nine, who was living on own means and William Gething, twenty-six, a baker-confectioner and  a nephew of Matilda and son of William Burford Gething, Matilda’s brother.

1911 Census

Age twenty-eight, born in Newark, employed as a grocer’s assistant and living with aunt Matilda Anne Gething, single, in a house with six rooms on Bingham Road, Radcliffe on Trent.

1914 Electoral Roll

Address given as Bingham Road, bedroom, first floor, furnished. Landlady was Mrs Gething.
