Age 5 and living with father Henry 34, a printer and box manufacturer, mother Louisa, 30, both born in Nottingham brother Henry Fitz, 8, and a domestic servant Ada Alvey, 18. They lived at 82 Trent Boulevard, West Bridgford.
1911 Census
Age 15 living with father Henry, 44, mother Louisa, 40 ,and brothers Henry Fitz, 18, who was also a clerk in father’s office, Frank Malcolm, 7, at school, and Reginald Charles, 4. They had two servants, one a mother’s help and the other a general servant. They were living at Bailey House, Water Lane, Radcliffe on Trent which had 11 rooms. He was employed as a clerk in father’s business of box manufacturer and printers

He returned from the war to Radcliffe on Trent in 1919. He moved to 4 Claremont Gardens, Sherwood Rise, Nottingham, returning to Radcliffe in 1928 to Hartwell House, Vicarage Lane and then to 24 Cliff Drive, Radcliffe on Trent where he lived from 1966-1984 (confirmed by British phone directories’ transcribed records which end in 1984). He moved to the Channel Islands where two of his daughters lived and died in Guernsey in 1995.
When he was in his 90s he dictated his memories of WWI: ‘Personal Experiences: G.V. Elwin ‘ to a member of his family. The document was typed up and then photocopied by a Nottinghamshire solicitor. It is reproduced on this website.
