Civic Award for WWI Project

At the Annual Parish Meeting, Wednesday April 22nd 2015 Radcliffe on Trent Parish Council presented the U3A WW1 project group with the Chairman’s Award for making an outstanding contribution to the community.

The group received the award for their 2014 exhibition commemorating the centenary of the First World War. It was accepted by Rosie Collins on their behalf. She thanked the Heritage Lottery Fund, County, Borough and Parish Councils for financial support and everyone from Radcliffe who helped make the exhibition memorable. She reminded the meeting that the exhibition was very much a community event involving several groups who used their skills and talents to ensure its success. Commenting on its purpose, she said “We are proud that we’ve created a fitting memorial to the people of Radcliffe who gave so much during the war years to ensure our futures”.
